The Nintendo Switch is one of a kind, a modern video game console designed specifically to play games. Nintendo Switch offers a limited range of streaming apps, unlike other consoles, such as the Xbox Series X or the Play Station 5. You will not find apps like Netflix on the Switch; however, a few apps are still available on Nintendo’s eShop, and they will be worth your time.
Here’s a complete rundown of some of the best streaming services you can use on the Switch. Check also Nintendo Switch capture cards guide.

Streaming Services on Nintendo Switch
Here are the few apps that you can use on Nintendo Switch:
1. Hulu
Hulu is the best app for movies and TV. It is the only major streaming service currently available on Nintendo’s eShop. And thankfully, it is one of the best too. The app features a wide variety of programming, TV series, and movies, and you will be able to find your favourite channels such as Disney, Fox, FX and much more.
The Hulu app is free to download; however, you need to purchase a subscription to get access to content, much like how we do for Netflix. The app has several packages to choose from according to your budget and watch time. These packages are:
- Hulu: $6.99/month
- Hulu (No Ads): $12.99/month
- Hulu + Live TV: $64.99/month
- Hulu (No Ads) + Live TV: $70.99/month
Sadly, Hulu is only available in the US, so you will need your account to be set to the US region if you want to be able to use the app.
2. YouTube
YouTube is, by far, the best app for free content. If you do not wish to spend money on apps to watch content, YouTube is your best friend. The Switch YouTube app, though, is a media player. Yes, you are allowed unlimited access to all your desired YouTube content, but uploading videos etc., is out of the question. In addition, if you are a YouTube TV subscriber, you will not be able to access this service on Switch.
3. Twitch
Twitch is a really popular app among gamers who enjoy watching other creators play games or simply chat over live streaming. This app is available on Nintendo’s eShop, and you can download it for free. Once you download the app, sign in to your Twitch account and enjoy the app.
4. Funimation
This app is for all our anime lovers out there. This app offers you a whopping 15,000 hours of ad-free anime, including hot favourites such as My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan and much more. You can either choose the free version or paid version. The free version has a limited selection of series, so getting a paid subscription would be better if you want to enjoy a wide range.
A membership will cost you $7.99/month. However, it does come with a 14-day free trial. The app allows you five simultaneous streams on one account, so you can use the app on other devices if your Switch is not around.
5. Pokemon TV
Now, who doesn’t love Pokemon? Another cool app available on Switch is Pokemon TV, and it is a free app. The app features full seasons of the Pokemon anime series and broadcasts of the Pokemon Trading Card Game tournaments. It also has content for our younger users, including Pokemon-themed sing-along tracks and nursery rhymes.
