Critic Reviews

“It’s not all just benchmarks today. AMD does have a trump card that Intel still lacks. I am, of course, talking about PCIe 4.0. For those wanting the bleeding edge of NVMe drives, AMD is where you’ll find it. The only real threat to the 3800X right now is the 3700X Both perform pretty close, but if you want to save a few quid, it’s a good option. T …”by eTeknix

Ryzen 7 3800x Features

The Ryzen 7 3800x is designed on X570 Chipset with the new Zen2 architecture that features up to 8 Cores and 16 threads, making it one of the fastest and powerful processor out there in the market. The 3800X is built on a 7nm process node that bags more than 19.2bn transistors, making sure to offer an excellent gaming performance. This Ryzen processor clocks about 3.9GHz on the base frequency and up to 4.5GHz on turbo boost.

Moreover, the 3800X features a thermal design power of 105W with maximum temperatures up to 95C. The 3800X also features the excellent Wraith Prism Cooler with RGB LED lightning that makes sure to dissipate all the heat and offer higher performance for your system. The Ryzen 3800X supports the PCI version 4.0, and it also features the DDR4-3200 memory type with up to 128GB memory size and ECC support.

Intel i7 9700k Features

The Core i7 9700k is Intel’s 9th generation of Coffee Lake Core i7s with 8 Cores and eight threads on a 14nm process node. The i7 9700k surprisingly does not feature hyper-threading, but despite the surprise, this excellent Coffee Lake i7 also surprises you with its superb single-core performance.

This Octa-Core processor boasts up to 3.6GHz on base clock and a staggering 4.9GHz on turbo boost. The i7-9700k features thermal design power of 95 watts, with a maximum temperature of up to 100C. What I like about this processor because it comes with an integrated graphics card, i.e. Intel UHD Graphics 630, which makes sure to offer excellent gaming performance.

Intel may have dropped the hyper-threading, but its turbo boost clock and single-core performance make it one of the best processor out there. Unlike the AMD processors, the Intel Core i7 9700k does not come with a stock cooler, so you would need to buy a cooler if you’re planning on overclocking your processor. The i7 9700k features the DDR4-2666 memory type with 128GB memory size and no ECC Support.

The Differences between Ryzen 3800X and Intel Core i7 9700k

The Ryzen 3800X and Intel Core i79700k are two outstanding processors that promise excellent performance for your system. Intel and Ryzen have been in competition for quite a long time now, and both the companies launch new processors every year and go head-to-head. The first difference you’re going to notice in these processors is the number of threads; the 9700k features 8 Cores and eight threads, while the 3800X features 8 Cores and 16 threads.

The 3800X also overtakes the 9700k in base frequency boasting up to 3.9GHz on base, compared to 9700k’s 3.6GHz. On turbo boost, the 9700k is superior to the 3800X; it boasts up to 4.9GHz, compared to 3800X’s 4.5GHz on turbo boost. The 3800X also features more L2 and L3 Cache data than the 9700K; the 3800X features 4MB and 32MB on L2 and L3, respectively, compared to 9700K’s 2MB and 12MB Cache data.

The 9700K features a smaller TDP of 95W, compared to 3800X’s 105W, which means that the 9700K will consume about 10% less power, but these numbers are pretty misleading. After testing both the processors, we realised that the 3800X consumes significantly less power compared to the 9700k. The 3800X also comes with the Wraith Prism stock cooler, while Intel did not include any stock cooler for the 9700K.

The Intel i7 9700K features an integrated GPU card known as the Intel UHD Graphics 630, while the AMD’s Ryzen 3800X does not feature any integrated GPU. The 3800X has better memory support than the 9700K; the 3800X features the DDR4-3200 memory type with 128GB size and ECC support. In contrast, the 9700K features the DDR4-2666 memory type with 128GB size and no ECC support. The 3800X again overtakes the 9700K in PCI Express Version, featuring PCI version 4.0, compared to 9700K’s PCI version 3.0.

Conclusion

After testing both the processors carefully, we noticed that the 9700K overtakes the 3800X in gaming performance. The 9700K proved to be the superior processor in almost every gaming test; on the other hand, the 3800X showed excellent results in handling intensive applications. So, if you’re planning on buying a processor solely for gaming performance, then you should get the Intel Core i7-9700K.

However, suppose you’re looking for a processor that can handle a wide range of serious workloads, including intensive applications and satisfying your gaming needs. In that case, you should get the Ryzen 7 3800X. In our opinion, the Ryzen 7 3800X is a better processor than the 9700K because it offers excellent performance in handling heavy games and other serious workloads.
